Olivie blake the atlas six5/22/2023 The Atlas Six is full of ideas and concepts that-like some of the potential initiates of the Alexandrian Society-may be just dying to get out. Frustrations aside, I am curious to see how Blake pulls it off. The novel’s finale turns many things topsy-turvy with a game-changing reveal that requires a lot of explanation in this book, and probably a lot more in the next. The sometimes overwrought prose is notably dialogue-heavy, and that dialogue is described with a whole army of verbs. But the writing is tuned to a very specific key, and it’s one that doesn’t sing for everyone. If you click with the writing and the characters, there’s plenty to luxuriate in. This is scene-setting and background, banter and bickering, seductions and exploration. Partly, it’s that it feels a bit like a very long prologue. Give me mysterious societies with magical libraries! Give me bickering twentysomethings striving for greatness and power and debating what power means and is worth!. For fans of Olivie Blake’s The Atlas Six (and other works) Created Aug 3, 2021. The strangest thing about The Atlas Six is that when I talk about it-when I think about it and read about it and search out interviews with the author-everything appeals. Currently reading, no spoilers please At first, I thought this book was stereotypical and boring. The Atlas Six è il primo romanzo della trilogia di Olivie Blake, autrice che promette di diventare presto uno dei nomi più in voga nel panorama fantasy. Dream Toolbox by Kenneth C. Aldrich5/21/2023 Ken, please help Sammy Rabbit fans get to know you. I think you too will find his insights fascinating! When I discovered it was finished, I requested this interview. One of many things I was delighted to ascertain was that he was in the process of writing the subject book. We had a wonderful and insightful conversation over a cup of coffee at Winchell Donuts in Pasadena. I asked if he would be willing to meet me in person. He generously agreed to my invitation to connect. I listened to all his short, succinct audio messages on making dreams come true. They resonated. I first discovered Ken while doing research on the Green Dot Corporation. His thinking stands up to others in the field. What I absolutely love about Ken is his clarity and directness. I read and listen extensively to information on the topics of dreams, goal setting and financial abundance. Aldrich, author of the book: Dream Toolbox: Building an Entrepreneurial Mind and Financial Abundance. Today I am pleased to introduce you to Kenneth C. Wisdom from Ken Aldrich - Author, The Dream Toolbox: Building an Entrepreneurial Mind and Financial Abundance Books like the ritual by shantel tessier5/21/2023 After Sabotage, I wasn’t sure if I could look you in the eye, and now, I know I can’t but that’s okay we can still be friends and I will just stare at the floor. To the lovely Shantel Tessier- Ma’am! I wanna be friends. But, some people do so read them, please. I need it to be a twisted web of lies filled with graphic scenes of all kinds and Ms. I don’t need it to be completely realistic. Now, some people are probably going to say that the secret society idea is unrealistic and cheesy, and on a small level, they may be right. Shantel Tessier is my spirit animal of smutty books and I LIVE for them! Shantel is a genius and continues to shine with The Ritual. I almost didn’t write a review on this book because honestly, I don’t have many words. Behind Closed Door Book Review 'First word amazing, The Ritual has to be one of my favorite reads of 2021.' Elizabeth Clinton. Sweetness on the water5/21/2023 Harris’ first novel is an aching chronicle of loss, cruelty, and love in the wake of community devastation. Reconstruction will prove to be yet another lie. Download or Read ePub/Pdf The Sweetness of Water Kindle Unlimited by Nathan Harris (Author) PDF is a. Prentiss and Landry are technically free, but they remain trapped by a lifetime of blighted hopes and broken promises. The Sweetness of Water Supporting format: PDF, EPUB, Kindle, Audio, MOBI, HTML, RTF, TXT, etc. Harris’ lucid prose and vivid characterization illustrate a community at war with itself, poisoned by pride and mired in racial and sexual bigotry. A climactic revelation in the woods on a dark night throws the entire community into chaos, pitting neighbor against neighbor and father against son, suggesting that the war has not actually ended. As the summer advances, secrets and hidden desires come to light, some as sweet as Isabelle’s peach preserves, others bitter and terrifying. Their connection to the Walkers bemuses and disgusts other white residents, especially the aristocratic Weblers, whose son, August, had been Caleb’s best friend. George and Isabelle Walker, mourning their son Caleb’s death in the war, take in Prentiss and Landry, two young brothers formerly enslaved on the neighboring plantation, who dream of reconnecting with their mother, who was long ago sold away. Near Old Ox, Georgia, resentful whites grieve their loss and formerly enslaved Blacks tentatively, hopefully turn their eyes towards freedom. Manhattan beach book review5/21/2023 Eddie, a longshoreman whom hard times have thrown out of a job, has been working as a bagman for John Dunellen, a corrupt union boss (“a big man with savage dock walloper’s hands” who “gave a drooping, corroded impression, like a freighter gone to rust after being too long at anchor”). She is accompanying her father on a visit to Dexter Styles, some kind of a big shot living in a mansion on Manhattan Beach, the place an overwhelming contrast to the Kerrigans’ tenement apartment in Brooklyn. The new novel is fairly straightforward in construction but superbly devious in plot - its characters time and again blind to the true nature of the situations in which they find themselves.Īnna, elder of Eddie and Agnes Kerrigan’s two daughters, is 11 years old in the mid-1930s when we meet her. Jennifer Egan’s “Manhattan Beach” follows her Pulitzer Prize-winning “A Visit From the Goon Squad” (2010), a brilliant tour de force which braided the lifelines of a large cast of characters into one ingeniously intricate pattern.
